Able Technology has built an API for New Zealand Post that calculates the cost and delivery options when sending packages nationally. The specification and some sample API calls are available from our beta testing site http://workshop.nzpost.co.nz/ratefinder.

Address Finder
In addition to the Rate Finder, you can use Able Technology’s Address Finder product to find postal codes, and validate New Zealand postal addresses. Some great API examples are available at api.addressfinder.co.nz

It’s a perfect move to build an API, because full automated web shops across the globe prefer to use these kind of API’s instead of building shipping qoute rules manually.
Since I’m a fanatic Drupal developer I have started to build a contributed module for the Drupal UberCart 2.x webshop. Using your simple API implementation I can now calculate National Postal quotes.
Are there any ambitions to extend the API for International support? Basically starting with the international country codes like; AU, US, UK etc. as value ‘country_dest’ as an addition to the ‘postcode_dest’. Please send me a message if I can be of assistance.
It would be super to add NZPOST support into the Ubercart project and so expand NZPOSTs’ exposure.
